From Compensation Gap to Purposeful Pursuit: My Journey to M.O.R.E

Picture this: six months ago, I took a bold leap of faith and left my job. You're probably asking why I would do such a thing in this economy. Well, buckle up because this story is about realizing my worth and standing up for my authentic self.

So, there I was, grinding away at my job, when a shocking revelation hit me like a ton of bricks. Can you believe my peers were making a whopping $60,000 to $100,000 more than me? You probably can since most black women earn $0.64 cents to every $1 a white man makes. Nevertheless, it was a hard pill to swallow, especially after receiving glowing performance reviews. I felt undervalued, unseen, and frankly, fed up.

To make matters worse, when I confronted my boss about closing the compensation gap, their response was lukewarm at best. It was a real blow, my friends. But what hurt the most was the fact that I didn't have anyone who could truly understand and help me tackle this challenge. As the only Black leader in the company, I felt like I was fighting this battle all alone.

And that's when it hit me like a lightning bolt. I couldn't be the only one facing such adversity. I knew that countless other Black women experienced similar struggles—feeling isolated, unsupported, and forced to conform to societal expectations while yearning to embrace their true selves.

Driven by this realization, I decided to create M.O.R.E—an empowering community that celebrates the power and beauty of "removing the mask". Our mission is simple but profound: to empower and uplift Black professional women by providing a unique combination of career resources, mentorship, and transformative retreat experiences. We understand the specific challenges faced by Black women in professional spaces, and we are dedicated to creating a supportive community that helps us thrive.
